Book Club

Some of you may read for your own entertainment and relaxation. But some of you may get together with a group of friends and discuss a book you just read. Even though we have lived in Camden for 3 years now I still don't know that many people so I have been searching for small groups or clubs to join so I can meet more people to make more relationships. So I found this book club group on the local library website saying that they meet once a month the 2nd or 3rd Wednesday of every month. I had about a week to read the book which was over 300 pages, thought why not and I did it!

You may be wondering what the book was and it was called: Tell The Wolves I'm Home. You may of not heard of this book, its an older book, but it may have because it was on the Oprah's book club list, so you may of read it. Ray downloaded the book for me so I could read it on my tablet. This made reading books more enjoyable and able to hold my interest better.

I was worried I wasn't going to finish the book in time so whenever I had a free moment my head in would be in my tablet reading. I started the book on a Thursday afternoon and finished it Sunday evening. This was the fastest and quickest I have ever read a book and being that it was so long.

You may ask or wonder how was the book? I have to reply with: it was interesting the author kept you on the edge of your seat at different moments wondering whats going to happen next but then at the same time she left you guessing with leaving things left unresolved. It was a different book, not my type of book that  I would normally read, not one that I would recommend but not turning you away from reading the book. If you do read please let me know your comments.

The meeting was on Wednesday at the Camden library held at 6:30. I do have to say I was nervous about going alone and being that I wasn't going to know anyone. But this is what I wanted to get out of my comfort zone. I arrived on time. As I sat down looking around the circle I noticed I was the youngest one in the group. You may ask: did that bother me and I reply with: no because I feel like I can learn a lot from them but was looking more to meeting people within my age range. The meeting lasted for an hour and the best part of the meeting was hearing the oldest member of the club hearing her comments on the book. She is very old fashioned and didn't understand why the children in the book were acting like spoiled brat teenagers and weren't able to take responsibility when their parents were away. I did agree with her, the teenagers (sisters) did act unrealistic in the book but I guess that's why it is a book. I do have to say the events in the book were the same way too. It is more of a new age book, not what I'm into but then again if you are go ahead and read it and let me know your comments.

The next book club meeting is November 20th and were reading the book: Wild by Cheryl Strayed, this book looks and sounds like the last one more not my style but I will take a crack at and let you know how it goes.

Till next month for Book Club! Please leave your comments on what books are great to read or your comments on either of these two books.
