I had the opportunity to back in time, as Cher sings in her song "If I could Turn Back Time". You may say "How is that possible"? But it is if your niece invites you to go visit her at college. Yes that's me folks! I got the chance to go to my niece Ashley's college and stayed overnight for 2 nights.
Prior to leaving for College on Tuesday morning, I was telling Ray just the night before that I wasn't sure what to pack since I'm 7 years older than Ashley and at times I feel like my clothing isn't so much in style. And he reassured me to not worry. So I went ahead and packed and was ready for Tuesday.
Tuesday arrived, I packed my car and was on the road. I made it to Wilmington in about 2 hrs. I had to call Ashley as I made my way closer to campus to ensure it made it to her apartment. She guided me well, then it was time to see the inside of her apartment. And let me tell you it was so cute, well kept together, clean, and yet very studious! I'm just so proud of my baby girl Ashley!
After we settled in she wanted to show me around her college town. We went to the nearby outlet mall to walk around and to window shop. We had a great time just the two of us bonding time. Dinner was prepared by Ashley, baked chicken, corn on the cob, and broccoli. I couldn't believe how great it tasted and yet so healthy. I go back to my college days and my dinners mostly consisted of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, or deer meat made into tacos, or cereal. But again, I was proud of her of her, her eating habits and willing to eat healthy!
Our evening was spent watching family feud and helping Ashley study for her exam the next morning. I tried to keep her focused and tried to give her study tips that would help her remember what she needed to know. Not sure the outcome of her exam but I hoped she did well! We took a short break after she finished her study guide. We took a short walk on the beach! It was dark and windy but it was nice to hear and smell the ocean.
Thursday, I made my way to my brothers in Salemburg. I got the honor of surprising Delaney at school. She welcomed me with a big hug. She got all her belongings then we made a needed stop at McDonald's for ice cream cones on a hot fall day!
The evening was spent at Courtney's volleyball game. She normally plays on JV but that night she got the opportunity of playing with the varsity! It was a blow out game, she played very well! After the game we ate dinner at Granddaddy's and Granny's. They had all the fixings, my favorite was the green beans with potato dish.
Friday, I drove Delaney to school and told her I would pick her up and we would have a date at McDonald's. Little did I know that Brittney had a college class in the same town and ended at the same time as Delaney's school did so I let Brittney pick her up. Delaney was not impressed with me not showing up but I made up for it by eating out at Salem Pizza and playing volleyball in the front yard.
Our evening was spent at the Lakewood High School for varsity football game. Yes, again back in time. It felt so crazy, I felt like I was back at Carson City but I wasn't. I had such a great time with my brother David, Delaney Brittney, and her boyfriend Brandon.
Till next time,
Love Aunt Bubba
glad you enjoyed yourself Jess
