Trip to Michigan from South Carolina

Week 2

Monday

Michigan Adventures-Two Parks for the Price of One!
All the Grienke family including myself got up early, packed, dressed, and ready to meet the Feltcher family off of highway 96 at Wright Road. The boys were all piled in Paul’s car, all the girls were in Jess’s car, and the Feltcher’s had their own vehicle. We stopped at McDonald’s to fuel up on breakfast. Then we got on the road again, headed to Michigan Adventure, getting closer and closer. The kids getting more and more excited as the closer we got.

Finally, arrived at our final destination, Michigan’s Adventure two parks for the price of one! We all payed for parking and found a place to park. Got out, got the kids their backpacks with a change of clothes and water bottles. We made our way to the kids water park.

We arrived and all the kids were excited. Jess oiled her kids up with sunscreen and off they went in the water. After getting my sunscreen on, in I went to play. As I went in noticed the water was FREEZING, not what I’m used to, being in the south. Since, the water is still about 85 degrees or maybe hotter. But if you stayed in the water a while you ended up getting used to it. When you got out, again it was FREEZING! It didn’t matter to the kids, they were having a blast.
Lunch time came and we all ordered fair food: hot dog, pretzel, nachos, French fries, chicken tenders and etc. It was so good! Especially the fries, salty just like I like them. As we all finished eating back to the water park we went.

Paul took the boys to the wave pool and left us girls at the kiddy water park. In the meantime, Jess was checking her voicemail, Jenna and I were catching some ray relaxing, and Norah was doing her own thing. As soon as Jess got off the cell phone, she immediately asked, “Where is Norah”? Jenna and I looked at each other with a confused look. Jess immediately gets up running over to the wave pool to see if Paul had taken her. Jenna and I start running and looking fast to try to spot Norah, but nothing, no Norah to be found. Then, I spotted her coming out of the men’s bathroom with Paul and the boys. I said “Jess is freaking out, we had no idea that she came with you”. He said “I didn’t know she came with us”. Jess immediately spotted Norah and began to cry. Then had a few words with Paul, “Why did you take her, you have to tell me if you’re going to take her”. Again, Paul said “I didn’t know she was following me, I was in the bathroom at the urinal, and she comes in with her suitcase” and says “daddy I have to go potty”. It was a sad moment but and good one too because we found our beautiful girl.

A few hours later, it was time to get dried off, changed into dry clothes, for the rides. Carter went with Feltcher’s to ride rides with them. I stayed with the Grienke’s to watch Norah and Hudson. Norah was excited and very happy. Her first ride was the Frog Hopper. Jess rode it with her. Norah couldn’t stop laughing. Hudson wouldn’t ride but he was content just watching.

After this ride, Norah wanted to ride another one. The way that we went walking there weren’t rides big enough for her to ride. We kept asking Hudson if he wanted to ride the rides, and his response always was NO. But we made him ride one ride just for him to see how much fun it really is. We got on the stationary car ride that goes in a circle but goes really fast, but not that fast. He was very nervous. He rode with Jess. During the ride, I saw he was gripping on tight to the bar. After the ride, he said “That was Awesome”. We all were happy he enjoyed it.

After walking to see what other rides he could ride, he decided he didn’t want to ride anything. Since, we bribed him to ride one ride then he would get ice cream. He would say, “Mommy only told me I had to ride one ride”. Which was true but we wanted him to ride more so he would have fun. He did have a part with the rides. He was more interested in the arcade.

Norah was such a big girl. She wasn’t afraid of anything. She rode every ride and wanted to ride more. Here are pictures of Norah riding.

After our long fun day at Michigan’s Adventure we were all ready for dinner. Being so late we were afraid we wouldn’t be able to find a Restaurant opened other than fast food. But we did, Texas Roadhouse let us come in right at 10 when they were closing, thankfully, because we all wanted a good meal to end on instead of fried food. The food and service was exceptional.

We arrive back at the hotel ready for bed. Norah was exhausted and not herself. She was crying, yelling and wouldn’t cooperate with her mom. She did this for about 35 minutes. During this time Jess her mom had such a good idea, to turn off the lights and ignore her. She did and that made Norah madder. So after the 35-45 minutes of crying and yelling she was back to her normal self. Finally, everyone could sleep.

Thanks Jess and Paul for such a wonderful trip and time together. Love y’all lots.
