Family Time

This weekend my parents came to visit. My mom was originally coming by herself but my dad got to come too which was a great surprise. They arrived Friday afternoon. We had lunch at Shoney's spent quality time here at the house and Kendall Lake.

Mom and I

Saturday morning after our breakfast we were on the road to Columbia for fine shopping at the Goodwill Clearance Center and the Flea Market. I am a huge fan of thrift stores and getting a good deal. This was my parents first time at a Clearance Goodwill. My mom was a little overwhelmed by it but my dad just jumped in with no problem. We all found great deals on clothing and toys.

After our shopping spree we stopped at Maurices BBQ for lunch. My dad had seen a billboard saying it was the best BBQ in town so we defiantly had to go. We arrived placed our order and were excited to see how it tasted. It wasn't like BBQ we were used to. They used a mustard base sauce instead of a red sauce which is our favorites.
-I ordered a pork sandwich without the sauce which I enjoyed.
-Mom ordered the same thing but with the sauce, she wasn't as impressed with it.
-Dad ordered ribs with slaw but wasn't impressed with the ribs, they were cooked too long.

My Lunch

That evening I had to work making the most I've ever made, $178! I was so excited!!!!

Sunday morning we all got up early to get ready and were out the door by 8:00, on the road to my brothers to see my nieces in a skit at their church, service starting at 10:30. We arrived on time and we were very excited to see the play.

The skit was about the temptations teens go through. Ashley had the main role, the teen that was tempted. Before you go through the trials you are so close to Jesus then you push him away more and more to fit in. But then you realize you need him more and more than ever and you come back to your Father.

The service was amazing. The weekend was a youth revival with a teenager preaching. His name is Tyler Jernigan (feel free to YouTube him). Hearing and seeing him preach was amazing. I've never scene a young person know so much about the word of God and be able to touch peoples hearts like he did. It was the best service I've been to in a long time. A special thanks to Ashley for inviting me and us.

After our special Sunday morning back to the Mixon's for lunch and quality time. David made his special ribs and I helped Liane with the sides. We all had such a great time together for the day then was back on the road to Camden.
