Road Trip

Day 5

In the woods deer hunting, and Ray was at his mom's helping her make pies for Thanksgiving.

During the morning in the woods I didn't see anything. Hoping it to be better for my night set.

We got back in the woods about 2:30ish. Uncle Sammy went to his shack and dad and I set together for the first time in at least 5 years. It was nice. It felt like the old times.

So there we were waiting, talking, and catching up on our sleep. Its so hard not to fall asleep because you have the heater right in front of you and a window opened so it is just the right temperature for sleeping.

After our naps just before dark, I saw movement. I grabbed my dads arm and said I see deer. He immediately put up his binoculars so he could see what it was. It was a doe and two fawns. My dad asked if I wanted to shoot that doe, and I hesitated because I was being greedy for a big buck to walk out. Now, it was getting darker and my dad asked again if I wanted to shoot, so I said sure. I got my gun up...and it was hard to see actually where she was. Dad said can you see her, I said yes, dad said if you can take her go ahead and shoot her. So I did, actually I silhouetted her, and BAM!

Dad said she cow bucked at least 3ft in the air. Usually when a deer cow bucks it means that they are dead, which is a good sign. We waited about 10 minutes dad went and got the quad, and tracking light. We were ready to find her and get her to the pole barn.

But....Little do you know we didn't find anything, not blood, absolutely nothing. I was very disappointed but dad said I know she is dead. We will body search tomorrow.

We went back home...dad had gotten a call from the guys at the pole barn needing help with tracking. And I started on my dishes for Thanksgiving.
