It was only a week ago on a Thursday I heard on 89.7 the Christian channel here in our hometown that Candace Cameron Bure was going to be speaking at a Health Conference in Florence. After hearing this I immediately wanted to attend! I couldn't believe she was going to be near me and was on one the biggest shows in the early 90's known as Full House and I was able to see her up close and personal. Later that evening I told Ray about what I heard on the radio, he asked if I wanted to attend and without a doubt I said "Yes"! So he instantly purchased my ticket online and I was going to see Candace Cameron Bure Saturday January 18th!
Even though I was extremely excited to attend this conference I couldn't think of anyone to invite. I know your thinking well Bubba why Bubba shes so outgoing not afraid of things like this. But on the other hand I am, due to all our previous moves friendships don't normally move with me when we move or when life changes happen. Knowing that I would be attending this conference alone I first thought of my family but they are too far away so I was left with no resort but myself until Ray asked one of his co-workers to attend the conference with me. At first I was scared because I didn't even know who she was, or if she spoke English, or if we would even have anything in common. We both made the phone-call to Corina (that's her name) to let her know the info about the conference. She seemed excited which made me more at ease.
I picked her up early Saturday morning, before heading to the conference we stopped at McDonald's for a hearty breakfast before getting on the road. On our way there we were connecting trying to find out about more each other which made the ride seem not as long. It wasn't much further till we arrived at the conference center. I didn't know what to expect from this conference, like I said earlier all that mattered is that I would be able to meet Candace Cameron Bure (AKA DJ Tanner).
As we walked into the lobby their were tables set up everyone with things like fashion, to health tips to chair massages to blood pressure testing and more. We both noticed the fashion they had were so unique and like nothing scene in a regular department store. All of these cute fashions were located in Florence or near there. We decided we would take one weekend to check out these cute stores.
Like I said earlier I was more interested in seeing Candace Cameron Bure but she wasn't speaking till lunch which was at noon so until then it was different health conferences ranging from parenting and to self improvement. It wasn't long and we were waiting in line to just get into the ballroom where lunch was being prepared and where our main speaker was going to be. We found a table not too far from the main stage then it was in line for lunch. It was a long line for pasta salad, ham wrap, fresh veggies, fruit cup, chips, and cake. It wasn't the best lunch but the speaker is what we paid for. It didn't take long and we noticed where she was sitting, there were women approaching her and taking self pictures with Candace. I wanted a selfie picture too, I started to rise to walk over there but then hesitated because I didn't want to interrupt her during her lunch. I couldn't help but stare at her, my childhood idle was in front of me speaking what a dream come true.
Her speech was wonderful but you will have to read her book: Balancing it All! This is her new book, I've been reading it but haven't finished it yet. Its a good read of self improvement and really trying to balance all your daily activities and priorities in life. After her speech it was her book signing, yet again another long line. I purchased her book Corina stood in the book signing line for me and as I returned to the line it didn't budge at all. We waited, waited and waited. They made an announcement that she wouldn't be taking self pictures with each individual so I knew I missed my chance of the best Facebook profile picture ever. And before I knew it I was the next person in line. I noticed she had hugged some girls and was hoping that would be me too. But as I approached her table she was the sweetest person ever. I told her my name and froze. Corina was on the other side of us snapping a photo and I didn't even turn I was just dazed that I was actually seeing her this close and she spoke to me. I told her my name, she signed my book and I told her thanks for being so inspirational and that was the end of our conversation. It sounds lame but I was too flabbergasted that I was actually seeing her for real!
Overall this conference was just what I needed to get out of my comfort zone. I met a new friend and was able to help myself improve too through the whole process. For me, my regular routine is just fine but I know every now and then I need help getting out of that normal routine. Thanks to my husband for pushing me, encouraging me and helping me to be the best person I can be. I wouldn't have enjoyed this weekend as much if I didn't have you! Thank you!

What a fun day that it turned out to be for you -- and an added bonus to meet a new friend - hopefully you two can do more 'girlie' things together soon. I would have been just like you Bubba and froze when I got to her table -- not knowing what to say to her. Wanting to say 'come on just make one exception to the rule and take a picture with me!!!!!' lol Oh well your friend did get a picture of the two of you together -- even if you weren't both looking at the camera -- it will be a day in your life that you will remember for always!!! love you!
