You May Ask

You may ask, another mini getaway? And I reply with a Yes, Yes, Yes! We weren't sure if I would be able to to go due to me working and with my dad coming to visit that following weekend. So we talked it through all week on what to do but it all came together when the company I was working for was hitting rock bottom with financials that they had to let a few employees go, and yes I was on of those employees. Yes, I was a mad yet another door opens and yet closes only a month later after taking the job. But on a good note I was able to getaway with my hubby for an enjoyable couple of days in Orlando Florida, the sunshine state!

You may ask, how could I overcome yet another door closing and change. Well I do have to say it is hard, it gets me down sometimes, but I have to realize that there is something better out there for me and that there are better things than work.

You may ask, what did we drive down? We drove a 24 foot enterprise truck with a bench seat, it wasn't the most comfortable driving vehicle but I wasn't complaining since I got a FREE trip to Florida!

You may ask, how early did we have to leave? It was early, we had to meet Ray's co-worker at his work by 6am. Each of us aren't regular early risers so we weren't quite awake till after breakfast. Ray began driving while I tried to sleep for awhile.

You may ask, when did we arrive? It was 2:30 in the afternoon we had finally arrived at the Peabody Hotel. If you've never heard of this hotel, its famous for its five mallard ducks that live in their $100,000.00 home on the rooftop. They have a ceremony at 11am, they walk out of their home onto red carpet to inside of the hotel, get in their own elevator with the red carpet, walk in a single file line to their fountain they spend all day in till 5pm. Then at 5pm, there is another ceremony that takes them back to the roof, they again walk in a single file line on the red carpet to their elevator to the roof top back to their home.

You may ask, what did the hotel look like? The hotel was beautiful, it was one of the nicest hotels I've ever been at. Since Ray didn't have to work Thursday we got a chance to relax at one of the eight pools. After, our relaxation it was time to find dinner. Where the hotel was located was perfect for tourists just like ourselves being that everything was within walking distance. We ate dinner at Bahama Breeze and ordered dishes that there famous for as well as drinks!

You may ask, what did Saturday bring us? Well, many of fun things. First was breakfast at the diner in the hotel, yes in the hotel. There were many restaurants, gift shops and etc. After our hearty breakfast we went to a different pool which was on the rooftop. Yes I say the RoofTop!  This pool was secluded, relaxing and beautiful!

By the afternoon came it was time for Ray to go to work and I ventured to the ground floor pool to read and relax. Little did I know that the sun was so hot, and not wearing sunscreen lead to me being bright red. If you know me I normally wear sun screen but I thought I'd be ok, no not in Florida what was I thinking. So, after Ray was finished with work he met me at the pool for a swim.

You may ask, what did our last night bring us? I answer with the dog track. You may be wondering what is that. Well its a greyhound dog racing track, yes you bet on which dog you'd think will win, but if your not interested in betting its still fun to see how fast the dogs can run. This time Ray won more races than I did, with leaving me only wining 1 race.

You may ask, when did y'all leave? Well, Ray's co-worker wanted to leave early Saturday since it was College Football day. Even though we all had a late night it still happened, on the road by 6am and home by 3:30. It felt nice to be home after the horrible ride of truck. But again I was grateful I was able to tour the little bit of Orlando that I did and able to relax.

A special thanks goes to Ray for letting me his wife attend his work trip, Ray's co-worker for letting tag along and a special thank you to his boss for letting me go too.

I got on here looking for a cooking idea and got trapped in your stories, lol. My friend worked for Columbia powersports and just recently got laid off for the same thing I wonder if that's where you worked . If so you should write about that cause I have heard some stories about that place. Thanks for sharing and looking forward to seeing the cooking segments again
