Water Skiing 101

This Labor Day weekend was spent relaxing and learning how to water ski. You may say "McCallister's are learning how to water ski" and yes that's right. Our neighbors had invited us over a week ahead to come over to hang out with their family, water ski and tubing. We both were excited but me on the other hand was way more excited than Ray, I would say ecstatic. I was gonna learn how to water ski. I just couldn't contain myself.

Our first day out was Sunday afternoon after church. Ray was the first to try this, by the time he got in the water, hooked up to the boat, he looked like a pro and made it look so easy. On his first attempt he went for about 5 minutes then was tired and then it was my turn.

My attempts were awful when you compare it to Ray's one and only attempt. The lady that was teaching me kept giving me hints and tips. But they didn't work I kept falling down while getting water up my nose. After all my attempts Ray got back up and skied like a pro.

Monday evening they invited us back over to try again. This time it was my time to go first. I tried different skies that were made of wood, they were wider than the ones I tried the day before. And guess what after a couple of tires I made it, I was up, gliding on the water and it felt so great. But before you know it I would pull the handle toward me, loose control and take a nose dive in the water. After all my efforts it was Ray's turn. Again, he took off like a natural.

After he got tired it was my turn, yet again. This time I was hoping I would be able to stay up and feel the water take me away. It was a long process but I mastered it! It felt so great! As I was up I kept telling myself bend your legs, don't pull the handle toward you, stay steady and you can do this. And I did! It was awesome and I'm looking forward to my next water skiing experience.

A special thanks goes out to our sweet neighbors for taking us out both days and teaching us how to water ski. We each mastered it by the end of the weekend and we can't wait to get back out on the lake and go again!
