The Luck of The Irish

It all began the fall of 2011. Ray signed us up for a bowling league on Tuesday nights. I wasn't too sure about this since I had never been in a league before and I wasn't the best bowler either. Our first day at the alley was pairing up teams and figuring out your handicap. Seeing each team I knew I was doomed. But each time I walked up to the lane I did my best.

In the beginning my average was 99. As each week came and went I continued to do better. I did have my moments of feeling discouraged but it all turned around when I received my Christmas present from Ray.

New Shoes

Ray gave me new bowling shoes. At first I thought, this is real, I'm a nerd that owns her own shoes. The first time I put them on I knew it was going to be a good night, and it was. Each week after that I kept progressing. My average at the end of the league was 104.

The last week was my best week during the whole league. The first game I bowled a 120, second game was 146, and the third game was 148. My last game I bowled a 148 which was my new highest score. Our opponents were impressed with my game as well as my teammates.

Our team took first place in the league. Each couple won $175! Being our first time in a league together, we both were very happy!

The Winners
(Wesley McCaskil, Kim McCaskil, Bubba McCallister, Ray McCallister)

Now we are in a bowling league for the winter. I will keep you updated on how we do.
