Thursday July 17th was the second day of Atlanta Fest 2010 held at Stone Mountain Georgia. This was my first time attending the festival as well as seeing Stone Mountain.

All the youth and chaperons met at New Prospect Church ready to board the vans by 7:15. Along the way we stopped for breakfast at our favorite place "for us in the south" Chick-Fil-A. All the students kept asking "Are we gonna stop at exit 149 for Chick-Fil-A"? Of course we would, couldn't pass a chicken biscuit up in the morning. Got our biscuits and back on the road to Stone Mountain for the day.

Finally, we had arrived to Stone Mountain. Turned in our tickets, got our bracelets for the day, now time to sight see around the mountain. Our first stop was the 4D movie theater. Never been to a 4D before but it was awesome. They were playing Journey to Center of the Earth. If you've never been to a 4D movie its defiantly different than a 3D. Do you know how? 3D the pictures come out at you but a 4D it touches your senses. Like in this movie, if it was raining in the movie it would rain on you, if they were falling you could feel the cool air, if they were going over rough spots your chair would move. It was very cool and all the kids really enjoyed it. It was the spot to cool off during the hot day.

Then it was time to take the lift to the top of the mountain. Its very high, scary and beautiful all one once. If your scared of heights maybe this isn't a ride for you but it is an experience you'll never forget. . Yes I did it! I went to the top of the mountain. Was a little scared but it was beautiful.

Before the concerts began it was time to get lunch. I wasn't hungry enough to eat. It was just TOO HOT to eat! Know that sounds crazy but it was. I kept drinking bottle after bottle of water and thinking of hot food was not appetizing. So, I settled for my trail mix and more water.

Nick Vujcic was the speaker of the night. He was very motivating, encouraging, and inspiring. Seeing him without arms or legs was very saddening. But he didn't let that stop him for pursuing his dreams and following Jesus Christ. Here is a link to see one of his videos http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H8ZuKF3dxCY&feature=related. Please check him out, he is awesome!

After, walking around some more, going back to the movie theater to cool down, going to the candy shoppe, it was time for the concerts to start. Began with Remedy Drive (which I missed, then to Down Here (originally from Canada), Matthew West (didn't see), Living Anthem (liked the band, bought a T-shirt and a CD), Fireflight (bought Ray their CD, thought they were like No Doubt), then to the final performance of the night Skillet (the best rock band and the best stage performance. All the kids were going wild and rocking out).

Laura the drummer in the video reminds me of you, I mean you both look alike with the dolly rocker hair cuts.

An hour after Skillet had played it was time for us, New Prospect to get on the road back to Anderson. All the kids were exhausted. As soon as they sat in the van, rested their feet, and rested their eyes. All of us had fallen asleep expect for Marty, which was a good thing since he was the driver. Marty kept saying "I can't believe y'all are tired I am wide awake". Think he still had the adrenaline from seeing Skillet!

By the time I had gotten home I was ready for bed....Thanks Marty for a wonderful day and for the invite. It was something like I've never been to before. It was awesome. It opened my eyes and ears to different genres of music.
