Day 1 Sunday May 30th Charleston SC
Ray calling his mom before we board.
The shuttle took us to the port at 12:30. We made our way through security and on the ship we go. I was so excited. Found our room then it was on to tour the ship to see what all there was to do. We found the patio pool and the buffet. As our touring we found food and it was time for lunch anyways so we decided to get in line. We stopped at the grill like a Japanese place. You get a bowl get all the vegetables and noodles you want. Then you hand it to the cook and he fries it all up. As I was waiting and waiting in line...I realized he had given my food to someone else. Ray was in front of me so he already had his food and was getting drinks. As he came back he started looking for a seat. He noticed I was upset so he got me nachos and salsa so I could have an appetizer in line. I know I shouldn't of gotten upset but I was hungry then I had to get back in line and it was a long line. But this time another cook made my food and I got it this time. The food was ok here, I think I just picked the wrong kind of sauce because it tasted salty.
View from our bedroom window before we left the port.
View of the patio pool area.
After lunch, we had to go to a safety seminar to make sure we knew where the lifeboats were and what one was for our cabin. Then we went to the spa since they were having a RAFFLE. I wanted to win a MASSAGE so bad! Guess what???? I did! They pulled my name out first to WIN.... 50% off a SEAWEED BODY TREATMENT AND FULL HOUR BODY MASSAGE!!!! When they called my name I was hesitate at first usually I don't win anything. I was so EXCITED!!! Booked it for Monday morning for a good day of relaxation out at sea.
Then it was time to get our swim suits on find a chair, start working on my tan, and relax. We found the Adult only area. You had to be 21 or older to enter! It was great. The chairs were comfortable. There was 2 hot tubs and there was an area out of the sun for those who didn't want to get any sun.
Back to the room to get ready for our first dinner on the ship. There were only two other couples that set our table. One was a newlywed couple named Jason and Sonya, an army man and his wife Dan & Laura, and Ray and I. They both were in our age group and it was fun to get to know them.
Welcome Aboard Show.
Day 2 May 31st At Sea
8am-Seaweed Treatment with a full body massage
It was amazing. I was in a-dire need of it. My last massage was 3 years ago.
Breakfast was great, we ate overlooking the ocean. It was beautiful. If you got up early enough you could go to the sit down breakfast or you could go to Windows at the Sea. Which was the buffet place, pretty much had the same selection as the sit down. You could get eggs, pancakes, sausage, bacon, toast, yogurt, bagels, fruit, cereal and etc.
After a hearty breakfast it was time to get the suits on again and head for the pool. We started in the restricted again like yesterday but I started to get too hot so we went to the patio pool to cool down. Stayed long enough to watch the hairiest man contest. YES! They had a hairiest man contest. They selected a 21 yr. old, and mama, and a granny to be the judges. Let me just say it was hilarious.
After being in the sun it was time to go back to the room for a long nap and to get ready for dinner. Tonight was formal night so we both had to look our best.
My dinner menu
Lobster & shrimp
Greek Salad
Melting Choc. Cake
After dinner we went to the late show to see a comedian. He was hilarious. Then to the Cat's Lounge to listen to rock music played by the Asians. They were the best band to listen to.
Day 3 June 1st Nassau Bahamas
We ordered room service breakfast so we could get out early and start touring the island. We didn't buy into any of the shore excursions. We just walked around and toured the island ourselves.
As soon as got off the ship it was very humid. It was cloudy but the humidity was very high. While walking around the island we found an art gallery. We asked the security if we could go in, and she said "yes". We made our way to the door noticing there was 2 dogs guarding the door. I made my way up the stairs and Ray noticed one of them growled and thought he was going to hurt us. Ray said "don't go that way". So we made our way around back. And the dogs didn't hurt us I think they mostly scared Ray more than anything. Seeing the art, it was different and weird. Not like art you would see here in America. We visited the gift shoppe but everything was too expensive.
Then it was on to tour more of the island. As we were walking this man approached us and said make sure you don't go to the GHETTO. Immediately, we turned around. We went to the main street and did some shopping. I bought a dress. But its different than a normal dress its called a Kariza. You can wear it all different ways but I just have to practice how to do it.
After, the humidity and shopping we both were ready to get back to the ship and get lunch and relax. As I was laying out in the sun this man and his family sat by me. The man had told his wife to get him a hot dog with relish on it, make it a Yankee hot dog. Then he turned to me and said "your not a Yankee are you"? I said "As a matter of fact I am, I'm a Southern Yankee now". One of the waiters came over and asked if he needed anything to drink, he said no but what do you want asking me. I said "I don't need anything", he said "I owe for the Yankee bit". So, I got a FREE drink. Ray was back at the cabin taking a nap. I told him the story, he said "I leave you alone for an hour and this is what happens". Pretty funny!
Dinner-Waiters danced for us to "Apple Bottom Jeans"
Dance Party by the Patio Pool. They had a taco bar, nachos and etc. They made these for decorations.
Crab made by our housekeeper Allison
Day 4 Freeport Bahamas
This is where all the boats bring their shipments in. You can see all the forklifts unlaoding the ships. We thought it was pretty interesting.
Today we visited the Big Bahama Island Freeport. As we got on the island we visited a few shoppes. After the shoppes we saw, there wasn't much left to see where we were. To get to the beaches and the tourist shoppes you had to take a taxi. One of the locals working the taxis asked us, "How many do you have" we said two. She said "come on". We didn't know where we were going, so Ray asked. I was worried because I didn't know how much this would be. We got to the destination only costing us $5 each for the taxi. It was so hot that day so we made our way directly for the beach to cool off.
After the beach we shopped a little then it was time to get back on the taxi and be back on the ship.
This hat was made by cancer survivors
My first time playing slots or even playing any games at the casino. I won $40! Was so happy. I wanted all the coins to come out of the machine and it to make noise but it didn't. I cashed out and put the money on our key card.
