Miss. Delaney Georgeann Mixon was in her first junior miss beauty pageant of Spirit of Life Christian Academy. The theme was: Girls Just Wanna Have Fun with an 80's theme. Her mom showed her what 80's looked like; she was not a fan and was not thrilled of dressing up for this era. Her coach was a good family friend that has been in pageants before so knowing the ropes she knew how and what to coach Delaney on.
As it got closer and closer to show time Delaney was getting more excited and anxious. Prior to show time we took her to get her nails painted and I joined in on the fun too. She got her nails and toes painted, and I settled for a manicure. After our nails were dry we headed back home to change, to get Courtney her esthetician, and her needed things that weren't at her changing room.
We arrived an hour early in enough time to get Delaney primped and proper for the show. Her first time on stage was in her 80's outfit with answering her first question. Prior to her coming out she was getting more and more nervous with having a panic attack. Little did we know that but her coach helped her through this and helped her have confidence through it all.
Next was the talent. Now Delaney had been practicing with her coach but would not practice in front of her family. She said she wanted it to be a surprise. Little did she know,it was a surprise for the whole family. She sang a Taylor Swift song, she new all the words, had a beautiful voice and shocked us all.
The last event was the formal wear. She walked out in her beautiful red and black flowered dress in confidence. She hit each spot on the stage, turned when needed, smiled and even winked at the judges.
Afterward, we celebrated at Ted's Steakhouse. The staff was great, they heard about her pageant and brought her out a cheesecake to cheer her up, with writing Miss Congeniality around the plate. It was so sweet! We all had a great time bonding together.
Great job Delaney! Your a winner with in my book! Love you very much!
