The Patriot Live in Camden

You may ask, The Patriot what does that mean? Well if you know anything about history or movies, you know it is based on the Revolutionary War. Again, if you know history or anything about this war you would know that it was fought here in Camden South Carolina, the oldest inland city.

November 2 & 3, the first Saturday and Sunday was the reenactment. All the actors involved with the reenactment arrived Friday to get everything set up just in time before the storm rolled in. Each side set up their own tents, fire pits so they can cook meals, old style bakery, and tents with their homemade crafts for sale.

Our friends Jeff, Amanda and their 2 boys William and Oliver came down from Charlotte and arrived Friday evening. Just in time for hamburgers on the grill with a variety of baked french fries. Being that the previous day was Halloween the boys stacked up on candy, each having at least 5-7 pounds a piece. Being that they each had so much candy they didn't mind sharing with us adults for dessert.

Saturday morning, Ray and I had prepared breakfast. After our hearty breakfast Amanda and I prepared a picnic during our time at the reenactment. We arrived mid morning at the war-site and the boys were excited as much as the adults. Each of us walked around to see all the sites. Prior to the battle at 1pm we all found a picnic table and enjoyed our lunch as everywhere we looked it was a turn in time.

It wasn't long and it was time for the battle to begin. Our friends were excited to see this and to see how real it was too. The boys were excited too! They enjoyed it better with earplugs due to the noise of the cannons. It was so real!

After going back in time it was dinner time at our favorite Mexican place called: Salud. It is a tradition that every time we get together we try a new Mexican restaurant either being in Camden or in the Charlotte area. Our dessert was microwaved smores and Halloween candy.

Sunday morning was spent playing the board game: A Ticket to Ride before they had to head back to Charlotte. The boys had fun just as much as Ray and Jeff. Before they left the boys and I had fun throwing shells in the water and most of all playing tag.

Thanks so much for visiting! We hope y'all will be able to come again.
