Tuesday afternoon we were on our way to Salemburg, NC to visit my brother David and his family. We didn't do a whole lot, we played games with the girls (checkers, Wii, and Chinese checkers and sequence). We also baked cookies, well we bought the cookie dough and made the balls to put on the cookie sheet. They were delicious. We had chocolate chip and sugar cookies. Thursday-Thanksgiving day my brother shot a 6pt that morning. He took me and Brittney to the shack that night to set. David and Brittney set together and I was alone. I didn't see any deer but I did see a black bear, I'm not sure how big it was since it was the first one i've ever saw, it woke me up in a hurry. I tried texting my brother to let him know that I saw a bear but he was in the middle of helping Brittney shoot a doe and by the time he got back to me it was dark and I couldn't shoot. When he did he said bear season was in and I could of shot it, but maybe next time I'll bring a bear home. Then it was to Mammy and Tl's for Thanksgiving dinner which is my sister-n-laws aunt and uncle. Liane made the whole fixings, dressing, turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, green bean casserole, corn casserole, pastry, and David made ribs. It was all tooo delicous. Us three (David, Brittney and I) went back to the shack to stay the night so we could get up early in the morning to go set. We woke up about 5am and was in the deer stand by 6:10. I bundled up since the night before I was freezing. I was in my stand for about 30min before I saw my first deer, and it was a buck. I saw something move, I got my binoculars up to see what it was (a doe or a buck) I couldn't see at first because he was behind some trees. As he moved he picked up his head and YES it was a buck. As soon as I noticed my heart started racing, and I thought to myself you outta get your gun up because your binoculars aren't going to help you shoot. So I got my gun up and the buck was still behind trees so I couldn't shoot. Now he starting walking toward the river and he wouldn't stop so I blated with my mouth, he stopped but behind trees. Still, couldn't shoot. He started walking again, I had to blat to make him stop, as soon as he stopped I shot. It was so quick I thought I missed, I'm usually more patient. But I wanted to this deer so bad. As soon I shot I called my brother to let him know that I had one down. He came with the 4-wheeler ready to track. I showed him where he was when I shot and there was no blood. Which, usually is bad sign that you missed. But I told him where I thought he went, and I heard David saying Bubba come here Bubba come here, I found him. I was so excited, I went running, and there he was piled up, my first buck of the year a 6pt. So we went back to the shack and left Brittney in her stand hoping she would be able to shoot another one. I started making bacon and David went to the store to get some eggs. By the time David got back Brittney was ready to be picked up she was freezing. She didn't see one. Maybe next time. So we got everything picked up and ready to get back to my brothers to cut up the deer, well for my brother to do that and for me to go shopping. I know that sounds bad, but I hate cutting up deer, I love hunting, and eating them. That night we went bowling, and went to mall. We had a wonderful time with my family but still miss our families back in Michigan.

Thanksgiving
Ray and I had a Thanksgiving dinner at our place. We invited our friends but the Southergills were the only ones that was able to make it since it was such last notice but that was ok with us. We had baked ham, Paula Deen's mac and cheese, green bean casserole, dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, and Miss. Fields baked apple pie. All the food was delicious. I had planned to play games before or after dinner, however, we never got to it. We enjoyed each others company.
