A Snake of a Good Time

Ashley, has turned 16 today July 27th! Her birthday party started on July 24th. Friday was filled with karoke, line dancing, tarp water slide, and eating lots of food. David (my brother) grilled hamburgers, hot dogs, also had chips, sheet cake, veggie tray and fruit. Everyone had a blast! Until....Taylor was hyper and had asked what should she do, I said go run around the house, so she did. Amanda went with her, they went running bare foot. As they returned Amanda was crying and said something had bitten her. Her ankle was swollen and black blue. My sister-n-law is a nurse said the bite looked really small that it looked like a bee sting or something in that nature. We gave her benedryl and decided to see how she felt in the morning...the morning and the foot was worse and then she started vomitting. Her momma said she couldn't come to the beach for the birthday party that she would take her to the hospital...as she arrived at the hospital they did blood work and come to find out that it was a Copperhead Rattlesnake bite! They gave her antivenom and kept an eye on her leg. They measured it every so often to make sure it wouldn't pass her knee because they were scared it would get to her heart. It never passed her knee we were all so thankfull! After our trip to the beach we decided to bring the birthday party to Amanda, we didn't want her missing out on all the fun! Here is some pictures from our visit with Amanda.
