Duck Dynasty Rodeo

The local Rodeo came into Great Falls South Carolina June 14th & 15th. There was signs everywhere in Kershaw/Lancaster County advertising that Si from Duck Dynasty was going to be present. We heard that people waited in line 8 hours just to see him and to get his autograph. Being that were not big fans or haven't watched the show, we didn't intend to be at the Rodeo so early.

The Rodeo began at 7 PM. As we arrived everyone was there, parking was guided by policeman, and a hay ride was provided for everyone that dropped you off at the gate. Prior to finding our seats, we smelled the greasy carnival food that we just couldn't resist. Ray had different thoughts what food he wanted but he settled with nachos and chicken wings. I knew exactly what I wanted, a deep fried corn dog with french fries.

We found our seats on the bleachers at the top so we wouldn't miss anything. After the national anthem the Rodeo began with bull riding. Seeing the men riding bulls was scary knowing that they could fall and be hurt. But at the same time its so nice to see them in their John Wayne outfits. The next event was the calf roping-where the rider has to rope the calf's head then jump off his horse and rope three of his legs tie the rope and get back on his horse, waiting for a few seconds and if the calf doesn't get up then he passes this event. Afterward was steer wrestling-this event was for the younger ones but was pretty funny to watch, you think its easy but its not. My favorite event was the barrel racing-there were 3 barrels on the course and the horse had to run around each barrel without tipping them over while beating the clock, whoever went the fastest and didn't hit a barrel won this event. There was more events but these were some of my favorites.

We enjoyed the local Rodeo and can't wait to go again next year!
