October Fun

October being Breast Cancer Awareness month we both signed up for the 5k run/5k walk. Rays work had a team together, so he signed up with his work. I signed up under a friends team to help them raise enough money to meet their goal. I signed up for the 5k run hoping I would beat my goal of 31:03 but little did I know that the runners started 15 minutes before the walkers started. So I start walking as I notice my friend and she says "I thought you were gonna run, I said "I am" and she said "they all started 15 minutes ago". I was doomed at that point, but I went for it and started running, hoping I was too far behind. But as I made it to the finish line I knew I started too late reading the time at 40 minutes, man if I only started on time I would have beaten my time or at least I would of had a chance. But I will next month on Saturday November 10th will be my 5th race of the year. I'm looking forward to it but hoping it won't be too cold outside.

October is my favorite month of the year. Some people love the spring, or summer because its warmer weather but not me I love fall! It makes me think of home (Michigan) hunting season opens the 1st of October (bow-hunting), the leaves start to change, cooler weather starts to come, and most of all you get to carve pumpkins, eat donuts and drink apple cider. What can get better than that! We haven't carved pumpkins in at least 3 years so we thought this year we would be fun to carve pumpkins for 2012.

After carving pumpkins we went to SC State Fair. We haven't been to the fair since I was in high school which seems like forever ago. So Ray looked online to see what concerts were in town for the 2 weeks that the fair was here and found a band that he loves called O.A.R. He got tickets for Saturday night the 2nd night that the fair was opened. We arrived about 6PM in time to browse around before the concert started. Ray wanted a corn dog, I got an elephant ear with apples, cinnamon and sugar (and it was delicious). Then onto the concert, I wasn't a big fan since I didn't listen to their music that often but listening to them live was AWESOME. They are one of those bands that sound just as great live as on the radio. After the concert it was sitting on the bench watching people walk by in their crazy outfits (which again was lots of fun). But before leaving the fair I couldn't leave without trying a deep fried snickers, and let me tell you it was way better than I expected. I thought it would of been fried like how fish is fried (crispy and golden) but not the snickers it was more like donuts filled with melting chocolate, caramel, and nuts. Very Delicious!

My good friend Amber took our pictures around Camden. I knew we were in need of new pictures since we hadn't gotten them taken in over a year so I thought what better time than my favorite time of year. Enjoy some of our fall pictures that were taken on the beautiful fall day!

Last Saturday was spent shopping at the Columbiana Mall and ate Chinese food at the food court like old times when we were newly-weds. I found more things to buy than Ray but he was a good sport to carry my bags. We stopped at Dairy Queen for dessert and I had to try the Pumpkin Pie mini blizzard. After our shopping spree we were off to the youth Halloween Party to chaperone. We played a card game called nerds for about 1hr. It was lots of fun but our eyes and head hurt afterward.Time for bed for church in the morning.
