Finding a Church Family

Within the past month Ray and I have been searching for a local church here in Camden. During this process I've been scared of going to a new place where I didn't know anyone and the thought of meeting new people made me cringe. I feel at times I open myself up and things go south. Either friends moving away, I moving away or relationships drifting apart.

The first church we tried was more of what I'm used to,however we felt the pastor wasn't what we were looking for in a leader. At times I felt he was more into being a comedian than teaching the word of God.

The second church we (I) attended since Ray was out of town. It was more a traditional church with more of an older crowd in the church. I don't know what it was but I just felt like this wasn't the church for us.

The third church we attended has a story. One day I sent my boss to give an estimate to the McCorkle's here in town, and they started talking about churches and how I've been looking for a church. So they told my boss to have me come check out their church on Sunday. The lady had called me the next day and asked me about my church background and was very friendly. She said she would love to have us come to her church on Sunday, so we did. The Sunday we went was the Sunday before Thanksgiving. They had a special sermon planned with an orchestra with beautiful music. It was great! After this great sermon we wanted to return. We went back this Sunday and I felt like the pastor was speaking right to me. I feel like I've been in a funk lately and he reminded me that God is always there.

We both feel like this is the church for us now and hope it stays that way. The McCorkle's are our new friends and we feel blessed to have met them.
