Over the last few months I've joined a Bible Study in my church at Awaken also know as a community group. My first meeting with them was back in the spring. We met at one of the girls (Misti) home once a week and went though an outline prior to our service on Sunday. For the summer we've been taking a different approach each week. Our leader Misti decided each person would present each week with Bible verses and what they've been going through.
Which leads me to our friend Kendra. She is one of the ladies in our group which I got to know but which I had more time to spend with her. She is from Ohio which is right by my home-state: Michigan, she loves and enjoys playing euchre, and loves the smell of fresh country air.
After graduation from USC this spring she is being stationed in San Diego with the NAVY, for three years. Last Thursday to be exact was our last time as a group with Kendra. We had her pick her favorite place, she picked: Yoghut. They have the best variety of yogurt and toppings.

Little did Kendra know that Tabitha and I planned to surprise her at the airport the following morning. Her roommate Alison said they were going to be there at 4:30am, so we got up at 3:30 and were at the airport by 4am. We arrived patiently for Kendra to arrive. By the time 4:30am rolled by still no sight of Kendra anywhere, we were worried that we missed her. Tabitha ended up calling her to see where she was, she stated she was on her way to the airport. We sat in chairs by the security line knowing we wouldn't miss her.
About 10 minutes later we saw Kendra walking our way, head down and crying. We thought she spotted us but didn't. As she got closer we stood and walked to her, saying SURPRISE! She was thrilled to see us there giving her a final farewell.
Kendra, we love you and miss you. We all pray that this new transition will be easy on you. We pray that you will enjoy this new journey and have fun experiencing it all. We are all here for you when you need someone to talk to. Keep us all updated.
Love,
Jess
